Mario Draghi was President of the Council of Ministers of Italy from February 2021 to October 2022. His term as Prime Minister was marked by numerous achievements, highlighting the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic, his leadership in the Next Generation EU initiative and his solidarity with the Ukrainian people during the ongoing war with Russia. Draghi was president of the European Central Bank (ECB) from November 2011 to November 2019, being widely recognized for saving the eurozone. During his eight years in office, the ECB’s monetary policy sparked growth in the eurozone with the creation of 13 million jobs and a two-thirds increase in the European stock market. Before 2011, Draghi served as governor of the Banca d’Italia and was president of the Financial Stability Board, the body that developed the first regulatory response to the global financial crisis for the governments of the G-7 countries.
